01 Oct 09 “Congress” Bureau of Investigation

Is it just conincidence or is the congress govt using CBI as its own tool,Just look at all the controversies that it has given into and not surprisingly all from congress

1.Bofors issue

In January 2006, it was found that CBI had quietly unfrozen bank accounts of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, one of the prime accused in the Bofors scandal of 1986 which had tainted the Rajiv Gandhi government. The Central Bureau of Investigation has been responsible for the inquiry into the Bofors Case. Associates of the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi were linked to alleged pay-offs made in the mid-1980s by the Swedish arms form AB Bofors, with $40 million in kickbacks moved from Britain and Panama to secret Swiss banks. The $1,300 million arms purchase of 410 howitzer field guns involved in the sale were reported to be inferior to those offered by a French competitor.

Congress all over it,,,,and why the hell did it  unfreeze accounts that were frozen ?

Is it because that both Sonia Gandhi and quattrocchi are Italian??

2.Nithari Killings

The CBI was given the responsibility of investigating the murders of dozens of children in the Nithari village near Noida, UP. This was after the local police was found to be incompetent and lethargic in their investigations. The serial killings were in the Indian and international media for weeks since decomposing bodies were found outside the house of the accused Moninder Singh.

The CBI gave a Pandher a clean chit as he was related to some high profile minister.

Conviction

On 12 Feb 2009, both the accused Moninder Singh Pandher and his domestic help Surinder Koli were found guilty of their crimes, by a special sessions court in Gaziabad. This verdict left the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) red faced, as the CBI had earlier given a clean chit to Moninder Singh Pandher in all its chargesheets. Both the accused Moninder Singh Pandher and his domestic help Surinder Koli were given death sentence on 13 Feb 2009, as the case was classified as “rarest of rare”.

3.Samajwadi party nuclear Deal

During the congress term in the center iot took support from Samajwadi party to pass the nuclear deal, Now there was  secert motive , Samajawadi party supports the nuclear deal and the congress waves off all cases against Mulayam Singh Yadav

New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday accused the Congress party of “grossly misusing” the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to save Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in a case of assets-in-excess of income in return for his party’s continued support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley told reporters, “There was a clear deal between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party under which the former would ask the CBI to give a report (in the Supreme Court) in favour of Mulayam Singh Yadav.”

Mulayam Singh is embroiled in a November 2005 public interest litigation in the Supreme Court charging him and his family members with amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. The apex court had then ordered a CBI inquiry.

Jaitley added: “The CBI was grossly misused and abused for political ends like never in the past. It is now being used as a catalyst to ensure the government survives (with the support of the Samajwadi Party).”

The Samajwadi Party joined the Congress-led UPA during the July 22 trust vote last year in parliament over the India-US nuclear deal when the Left parties withdrew support to the government, pushing it into a minority.

Jaitley referred to Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh’s attack Monday on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said: “This was a false aggression to dispel the impression that they (the two parties) had a deal.”

He went on: “Amar Singh’s yesterday’s aggression was entirely false and make-believe.”

Link

And now the more recent Titler case

In the Tytler case, the CBI’s claims about the unreliability of the witnesses would have carried greater conviction if its track record had been more credible. But, against the background of its propensity to follow the dictates of its political masters rather than the merits of a case, the clean chit to Tytler cannot but be widely disbelieved. But, it isn’t only the CBI’s name which is besmirched. Its political masters, too, will be seen to be pulling the strings from behind.

Link

I mean one only has to be blind to ignore the congress misuse of CBI.No other political party has used the CBI as the congress has.

Shame on you Congress

Me thinks CBI should be dismantled

20 Jul 09 Indian processors

After facing a lot of hack attempts from Chinese hackers on a daily basis

GOI has decided to make its own processors to add as measure to prevent Chinese hackers from infiltrating into crucial websites

Top scientists at some of the country’s ace scientific institutions are pooling energies, and the government some money, in an attempt to design a home-grown microprocessor, which they hope will ward off the rising threat of espionage into strategic segments like defence, telecom and space.

However, the current plan has national security as the first priority, especially after reports of a global network of Chinese hackers breaking into sensitive installations worldwide, including the headquarters of Dalai Lama in Dharamshala and telecom networks in the UK. Just a week ago, South Korea had complained of an organised effort by North Korea to hack its government network.

“Unless India has its own microprocessor, we can never ensure that networks (that require microprocessors) such as telecom, Army WAN, and microprocessors used in BARC, ISRO, in aircraft such as Tejas, battle tanks and radars are not compromised,” the document points out.Source

For those who do not know GOI has quite some experience in developing semiconductors

Advanced Neumarical Research and Analysis Group (ANURAG)

Advanced Numerical Research and Analysis Group (ANURAG) is a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Located in Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad, it is involved in the development of computing solutions for numerical analysis and their use in other DRDO projects.ANURAG was established on May 2, 1988, to support aeronautical design work, with the mandate of executing specific, time-bound projects leading to the development of custom designed computing systems and software packages for numerical analysis and other applications.

Microprocessor Design and Development.

ANURAG has designed and developed general-purpose microprocessors- ANUPAMA and ABACUS. ANUPAMA is a 32-bit RISC processor, and works at 33 MHz clock speed. The complete software development tool kit is available for application development. A single-board computer based on ANUPAMA is available for evaluation and software development. ANUPAMA is also available as an IP core.

ABACUS is a 32-bit processor for multi-tasking applications with virtual memory support. It is designed around ANUPAMA core with additions like MMU, two levels of cache, double precision FPU, SDRAM controller. The IP core of ABACUS is available in Verilog RTL code. This processor is suited for desktop applications. Complete software platform is available for ABACUS processor and a single board computer with ABACUS is implemented. Linux Kernel is ported.

Areas of work

ANURAG helps design and develop advanced computing systems. Much of this research is conducted in state-of-the art concepts like parallel architectures, etc, in order to build up a technology base in these areas. Its areas of work are:

1. Parallel processing technology.
2. System engineering, integration.
3. General purpose microprocessors.
4. 1 micrometre CMOS fabrication technology.
5. Design and development of VLSI chips & SOC development.
6. Processor related technology.
7. System software development for custom made processors

Products

PACE (Processor for Aerodynamic Computations and Evaluation), developed by ANURAG, is a loosely coupled, message-passing parallel processing supercomputer. PACE was originally designed to cater to the Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) needs in aircraft design. It can also be used for other fields such as weather forecasting, automobile & civil engineering design and Molecular Biology. These systems have been built using VME-bus based Pentium processor boards, ATM switches and Reflective Memory communication hardware.

In 1987, India decided to launch a national initiative in supercomputing to design, develop and deliver a supercomputer in the gigaflops range. Complementary projects were initiated in various labs, ANURAG being one of them. PACE was unveiled by then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao in April 1995.

In late 1998, ANURAG developed the 15 times more powerful “Pace Plus 32″, which can be used to support missile development, as well as other fields. A 128-node PACE++ system, built using Pentium processor based VME boards was unveiled by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in January 2004. The performance of this system is 50 Gigaflops (sustained performance). It has been installed at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. At present work is in progress on parallel processing system based on Linux clusters targeted to deliver 1 teraflop performance.

ANAMICA
ANAMICA (ANURAG’s Medical Imaging and Characterization Aid) is a DICOM compliant three-dimensional medical visualization software for data obtained from any medical imaging system like MRI, CT and Ultrasound. The software has two-dimensional and three-dimensional visualisation techniques to visualize the images in various ways. The sequence of images obtained from any imaging system by scanning of a single patient is packed to form a three-dimensional grid. The software has also been modified for accepting data from Industrial CT systems.

General purpose microprocessors

Other technologies

ANURAG has designed a 16-bit DSP processor, which is available as an IP core and the design is packaged in 120-pin CPGA. It has also designed other processors and arithmetic cores. ANURAG has also been able to fabricate CMOS designs up to 1 micrometre size and with up to 100,000 gates. Die sizes of 14 x 14 mm have been achieved.

Not only will this help sensitive networks safe against Chinese hackers but it will also help the ailing Semiconductor industry to get back on its feet

Its not that the Chinese hackers have only targeted the Indians, they have targeted the Russians

Americans, British & even the Turkish.

So how exactly  will making a chip prevent chinese hackers from hacking Indian websites?

I really don’t know I will read more stuff about it and let you know

05 Jul 09 10 years of Kargil war

It’s the 10 anniversary of the Kargil war.

Let’s start by why this war was exactly held

What was Pakistan’s interest in Siachen?
Before we can answer this we need to go to Siachen.

What is Siachen?

The Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram Range in the Himalaya Mountains at about  35°30N 77°00E / 35.5°N 77.0°E / 35.5; 77.0, just east of the Line of Control between India-Pakistan. India controls all of the Siachen Glacier itself, including all tributary glaciers.

So what is the big deal?
To answer this question we need to ask what is  the Karakoram Highway

What is the  Karakoram Highway?
The Karakoram Highway (KKH)is the highest paved international road in the world. It connects China and Pakistan across the Karakoram mountain range, through the Khunjerab Pass, at an altitude of 4,693 m/15,397 ft. as confirmed by both SRTM and multiple GPS readings. It connects China’s Xinjiang region with Pakistan’s Northern Areas.

Karakoram Highway

Karakoram Highway

Click to enlarge the pic and see how strategically Siachen is placed to counter the entire highway

Now we come back to the question

What was Pakistan’s interest in Siachen?
India is strategically placed its army in Siachen which overlooks the Karakoram high way. Sitting at this position the Indians can target the entire high way and its traffic at will and at ease.
This is again important because every time India has a conflict with Pakistan …the first move made by Indians is a navel blockade. India stations an aircraft carrier outside Karachi port acting as a deterrent to all the merchant ships trying to enter Pakistan.
With no oil in Pakistan they surrender within a week or two.

But why do we want to target this highway?

This is the oil age ..Anyone who controls oil is the king. The first and the foremost ingredient needed to start and sustain a war is oil.
Pakistan can only last for week or two if it does not get additional supplies of oil from the world. So in case of a war an Indian battle ship is placed in the Arabian Sea to push back all the oil tankers coming into Karachi or Gwader.

Please read  of  a past naval blockade of Pakistan.Google  Operation Talwar

Now china can supply oil (Theoretically) arms and ammunition from this route. So it is important for us to cover this point too.

Okay cool I got the point lets go ahead.

Just to give you a sense of time the Siachen conflict started in 1984 and the

Karakoram highway was built in 1986.
Now Pakistan will never feel safe with Indians watching them from the top of a mountain

A picture will give you a better understanding.

So what was the Pakistani plan?
One must appreciate the planning of the Pakistani’s..I do …they had a brilliant plan.

In winters there was an unsaid understanding that both of them(India and Pakistan) empty their camps and go back to their bases as it would get too cold for them
to hold ground. This was done for the past 20-30 years. India had nothing to suspect anything un usual and more over the India was making good progress with Pakistan in terms of PR with Vajpayee going to Pakistan and India Pakistan bus and stuff like that.
Pakistanis took advantage of this and occupied Indian posts in winter itself. They were well supplied and they had stayed there for over a couple of months and had managed to get some heavy military equipment  and were well equipped…better equipped than the Indian Army

a. Modernizing the Services. The war in Kargil has effectively highlighted that besides bravery and raw courage our officers and jawans need to be better equipped both in respect of arms and equipment. Imagine a rag-tag band of militants were better equipped than the fourth largest army in the world — what can be more insulting or demoralizing!

Source

Well it goes without saying that all this stuff was sponsored from china and it was in response to  the then Defense minister George  calling China India’s number 1 enemy.

China only wanted to reciprocate the same feeling to India but this time in a better way.

So what was Pakistan’s plan?

Pakistani’s had planed that while nawaz sherrif diverts attention of Indian politicians from the Kashmir front, the army will infiltrate the posts occupy them and make a strong hold. The Indians will not respond appropriately and will go crying to US.US will announce a seize fire and Pakistan get hold of the strategic position and will co ordinate an attack at the siachen glacier with an attack at NH 1A.This will stop crucial equipment from reaching siachen and we will loose siachen to Pakistan and eventually the karakoram highway.

So where did it go wrong ?

1.The Indian response. The then Indian defense minister saw this and gave the army, navy and the air force  a free hand to do what ever they can from the Indian side of Kashmir and get the intruders out.

The army brought bofors guns to hit the enemy bunkers accurately.

The Airforce was used to target the enemy bunkers where bofors could not be used. This was the first time Laser guided bombs were used in the war.

You can see the footage of the bombs that were dropped on the bunkers of Tiger hill .

2.Indians response was so great that the Pakistani planning went wrong. More over Kargil war was also open to the media. Watch video.

Now with the support of the international community getting low Pakistanis could not get the required Cease fire from US. Instead US asked them to vacant their position and refused to get dragged into this war.

With time running short and Indians navy blocking the ports of Karachi ,nawaz sherrif had no choice but to order a withdrawal of his troops. But Musharraf was not the one who wanted to withdraw. He wanted to make it into a war rather than a battle. Nawaz in the mean while thought of blaming Musharraf  for the whole scenario as it would be more convenient for him. There was a falling out between them and it is at this moment that Nawaz Sherrif ordered the killing  of Musharaff.

Musharraf survived the assassination and took over Pakistan in a Military coup.

So all in all ..The plan was great execution was nice but the sustainability was bad.

It’s been 10 years what has been the change now?

Well the Indian posts are manned for 24 hours a day and 365 days a week ,they have gone high tech and they are never left. Hot water, TV, Free telephone fridge ,heater, cooker.

Each and every bunker is self sustained with enough ration to last a year.helicopters are kept at disposal

The Indian army provides each jawan with some of the best winter clothing available in the world, snow boots and anti-glare goggles. Pucca barracks have been built and are heated using a kerosene “sikri” that has an exhaust system. The toilets are also heated using the same technique. Dehydrated food is available at all posts during winter. The power supply through generators is regulated to conserve fuel.

The best part for the jawans is that they can talk to their wives, children and parents on a daily basis. At places where the BSNL network is not available, satellite phones have been provided. Each post has a TV and DTH connection. The leader of the group regulates television viewing.

A doctor is attached with each unit, while each post has a jawan who has been trained in nursing. There is also the facility to land a chopper to evacuate anyone who is not feeling well.

Source

“The newly-built defences are fully covered from both sides with two thick parallel-running stone walls, thick overhead protection which can bear any kind of fire from the enemy,” the officer said.

The idea for building these new defences came up after the army realised that the stone walls at posts facing the enemy directly and at close distances were not effective in providing shelter against shells fired in the ‘air-burst’ mode as the splinters were causing damage to the troops.

“Now even artillery shells fired in the air-burst mode would prove to be ineffective as our soldiers would be fully covered from all sides,” the officer said.

Source

Now with all this in place there can be no chance of another mis adventure from Pakistan at least on this front.
Watch this video of how Pakistani army surrendered and accepts in soldiers bodies

And almost then entire Indo Pak   border has been fenced with thermal imagery installed to monitor the movement of people both above and below ground and hence forth  you do not see any more militant activities in Srinagar and Kashmir.

Watch the video of the national anthem at Siachen
