The Man Eater Of Malgudi By R.K Narayan

The time less old classic The maneater of malgudi. I always liked the R.K  Narayan has his own way of putting out irony in humour. The story revolves around a polite man who finds  very very hard to say no.

I would love to give you details of the story but I won’t, yes I am a little lazy right now but this is a good read.  I would recommend this to you

Making the Minister Smile By Anurag Mathur, A book Review

Now this book has been out for 10 years now so my review will be a little hard.

This book has an hangover of the inscrutable Americans. This involves an American coming to India for a business deal which has gone wrong due to the local  worker troubles.

The rest of the story involves the American working around India trying to learn the language and adapting to the conditions. A lot of Indian American hangover.

Although the book is a little pro BJP, but 10 years on it has lost its flavor and touch.

The Ant and the Grashopper by William Somerset Maugham

I remember reading this short story in one of my school books. I fell in love with this story and the idea of it.

After a lot of hunting around I found the book which had this short story and I decided to make a PDF version of it.

I scanned the book in a scanner and am now uploading it here.

I loved this story and I hope you will like it too. Its written by William Somerset Maugham

A sober and respectable businessman, George Ramsay,
suffers from the burden of a  ne’er-do-well brother.
While George slowly builds his income and his
reputation, Tom, his brother, lives recklessly on borrowed
money, a trial to his family if a delight to his
friends. Maughom’s story takes exception with Aesop’s
famous fable

The Nine Unknown Men

The Nine Unknown by Tablot Mundy

After buying it from ebay through my sister in US, I finally managed to get my hands on the book a few days back..

And there is a story on how i got this book,

I was on a desperate thing to buy this book, the original book, I looked all over the Internet but could not get my hands on one…I found lots of facsimile edition and costly ones too…around $ 49-150.I was tired and was about to buy one of them but it was that moment of despair i  found it.

It was just put up for auction on eBay US and i put a maximum bid for $ 10 using my sisters account.

A week later i won the bid

Now here is the interesting part, the guy who auctioned it off packed the book and was about to send it when he passed away.Yes he passed away, well it took more that a month for the book to arrive and i had to contact the ebay anti fraud dept, they in turn got hold of the owner and found out that the owner had passed off, Some one else on her behalf posted the book.

My brave little sister was too scared to open the book as she thought that it was jinxed. The book had to wait for more that a year to get to me and well i got it today

I really cannot make out the date when it was printed, can’t really seem to find it.

Here are a few screenshots

For those who want to know what the fuss about the nine unknow men is all about

According to occult lore, the Nine Unknown Men are a two millennia-old secret society founded by the Indian Emperor Asoka c. 270 BCE. According to the legend, upon his conversion to Buddhism after a massacre during one of his wars, the Emperor founded the society of the Nine to preserve and develop knowledge that would be dangerous to humanity if it fell into the wrong hands. Some versions of the story include an additional motivation for the Emperor to conceal scientific knowledge: remnants of the Rama Empire, an Indian version of Atlantis, which according to Hindu scripture was destroyed by advanced weaponry 15,000 years ago.
